Grab
Taxis, food delivery and groceries in one app. This is how everyone gets around KL — cheaper and easier than hailing a cab, with the fare fixed before you book.
Touch 'n Go eWallet
Malaysia's everyday wallet. Scan-to-pay works at hawker stalls, small shops and car parks where cards often don't. Worth setting up on arrival.
How Malaysia communicates. Hotels, drivers and restaurants will all message you here rather than call.
Google Maps
Reliable across KL, including walking routes through the covered skybridges between the malls. Download the KL area offline before you land.
Klook
Day tours, attraction tickets and airport transfers, usually cheaper than at the door. Handy for Batu Caves trips.
Download these in Australia, but don't worry if Grab won't sign you in until you land — it often can't reach its servers outside Southeast Asia, and verification usually needs a local number. A Malaysian SIM or eSIM at KLIA sorts it in minutes.
Petronas Twin Towers & KLCC Park
Go at golden hour, stay for the fountains once the towers light up.
Aquaria KLCC
An oceanarium beneath the convention centre, with a 90-metre walk-through tunnel. An easy, cool hour.
Batu Caves
Limestone temple caves just outside the city. Best in the morning — most tours include hotel pickup.
Suria KLCC
Connected to the hotel. Over 500 stores, high street to luxury, plus a good food hall.

More fashion-led, with the Jalan Alor night food street just behind it.
Swasana Spa, Impiana KLCC
Traditional Southeast Asian treatments, a short stroll away.

Open around the clock — useful if your flight lands at an odd hour.
Jalan Alor
The essential KL night. Satay, grilled seafood, coconut ice cream. Best after dark.
Rooftop Garden, LaLaport BBCC
Open air, with Merdeka 118 and the TRX skyline in view.
Pavilion Crystal Fountain
Lit up after dark, right at the mall entrance. Worth the detour.
